Protocolo EOSIO 2.0 se creó teniendo en cuenta a desarrolladores

With just two weeks to go until the release of EOS v.1.8, Block.one, an open-source software publisher, together with EOS’ parent company, has unveiled its highly-anticipated EOSIO 2.0 protocol, something that has been developed to improve performance, security, and create more tools for developers.

The official blog post revealed that EOSIO is the first Blockchain software to leverage a WebAssembly (WASM) engine for better performance:

“The solution: build our own, designed from the ground up, with Blockchain in mind. EOS VM, our purpose-built WASM Blockchain engine, runs EAS Mechanics WASM CPU benchmarks up to 16x faster than Binaryen, which launched with EOSIO 1.0.”

Following the announcement, Daniel Larimer, Chief Financial Officer of Block.one, commented:

“EOSIO 2 rc1 is officially available for the community to download and use on Testnets, and even on non-critical EOS nodes. Assuming there are no major issues, this will be the final 2.0 release, and it’s super fast!”

Additionally, the blog stated that the team also hoped to solve the barriers to entry for new developers in the space, especially for someone who is building on EOSIO for the first time.

Improvement offers

Aiming to improve the security and scalability of block production, the post revealed that the “Weighted Threshold Multi-Signature Block Production Support” offers a permission layer.

Essentially, it allows for multiple block signing keys in a flexible scheme, thus achieving a «redundant block signing infrastructure without sharing any sensitive data.»

Realizing that setting up a Blockchain development environment is a multi-step process, which takes a long time to complete, the Block.one team is building the EOSIO Quickstart Web Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

This is a tool that allows new developers to “go from scratch to ready to build in minutes.” In addition to the EOSIO Quickstart Web IDE, the other core components included in the EOSIO 2.0 Release Candidate are: EOS VM, WebAuthn Support, and Weighted Threshold Multi-Signature Block Production Support, all built with developers in mind.
